(March 10th, 2009, Miami Beach, FL) – It should be no surprise that a leading trend market like Miami Beach has proven a need for a fashion week to call their own. As with every year, FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach, will fuse music, fashion and like no other city in the world could do. This is Fashion Week - MIAMI STYLE!

Funkshion - Fashion Week Miami Beach celebrates its 12th season this March! The state of the art fashion tents will be built on the sand at 11th Street and Ocean Drive in Lummus Park in Miami Beach. The venue will feature two unique venues with a large court yard for sponsor activations in the center of it all. FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach will open on March 25th with a very special collection of eco-friendly and eco-fabulous designers brought together by Green Fashion Miami.org

On Wednesday, March 25th 2009; we will be celebrating the first Green Fashion Show in the city of Miami Beach. The models for the GREEN FASHION MIAMI runway shows will all be contestants and title holders from different pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss Intercontinental and Miss Latina International.

The show will be the official kick-off event for FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach. Top designers from Latin America and the United States, will be presenting a collection made of recycled, eco-friendly and sustainable materials. The event is proud to announce our “Environmentalist of the year” award. Green Fashion Miami is a celebration of creativity, beauty and action. It will be a magical night, where designers and international beauties will be united in order to present a new fashion trend and share the same goal

Highlights of this year’s FUNKSHION will include the launch of singer T.I.’s new line; Gen-Art will present Krelwear and CURVE will be presenting a mixed fashion collection runway show of designers from around the world.

As with every season, Fashion Week Miami Beach supports new and emerging designers with our Emerging Designers Award. Fashion Group International will award the winner this prestigious honor. The panel of judges will be made up of media elite, trade industry VIP's, designers, celebrities and members of Fashion Group International. The winner will also be able to showcase its designs at Funkshion: Fashion Week Milan in Italy.

FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach is a four day/evening long event that provides an intelligent, innovative platform for progressive, established, and emerging designers to showcase their collections to media, celebrities, international buyers, and select style makers. The shows are geared towards designer diffusion collections and innovative lifestyle brands. Designers will integrate music into their shows, many personally selecting their favorite celebrity DJs to preside over their runway spectacles

FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach has harnessed the curiosity and support of established and emerging talent from the international fashion and lifestyle arenas. All hair and makeup for FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach will be provided by Cosmix. All Funkshion T-Shirts provided by Alternative Apparel.
